THE VISION

The mission behind Singing Trees is to provide sustainable, local, low impact musical instruments for individuals and groups to enjoy and express their rhythmical nature and musical creativity on

A central part of the vision of the Singing Trees project is the development of our new woodland site in the Highlands, to provide an outdoor musical space for community and school groups to visit and learn how the xylophones are made and have workshops and tuition in their use.
The site, as well as providing an outdoor musical space, will incorporate a forest garden for visitors to enjoy walking in and will offer educational opportunities in subsistence forest agriculture, environmental stewardship and sustainable forest management.

THE PROJECT AIMS:

  • To provide a working model of sustainable and renewable manufacturing.
  • To educate and demonstrate the wide variety of uses of local timber and also encourage the growth and use of the outdoors as an educational, fun and learning environment.
  • To manage the forest in such a way as to produce renewable timber crops while encouraging biodiversity and woodland habitats.
  • To encourage education and learning in the use of forest land to support a human population by means of sustainable manufacturing and forest gardening.
  • To provide a model for sustainable development as set out in local agenda 21.
